No, that’s guaranteeing hours. If you have a nanny and want them retain the nanny, you pay her. If OP is paying only when she needs the nanny, and the nanny is expected to remain available and flexible, I know exactly why she’s “unreliable.” Nobody has the right to on-demand childcare without paying for it, so the nanny is begging family and friends, possibly last minute if she receives last minute notice from OP.
