OP, you can get your garden hose and spray the area which dilutes the urine and lessens the damage it does to the grass, if you want to take the time and effort. My brother used to take a bucket of water to the spots his own dog peed on.

Ugh, sorry OP. I've seen people walk their dogs into my yard (on my property) and let them poop. I think it's rude because it confuses and upsets my own dog...but it's pretty rare, so I don't make it a thing.
I walk my dog to the sidewalk and have her pee in the area between the road and the sidewalk.
As for people who ask about dogs going in their own yard, mine doesn't. She pees and poops only when I walk her, in spite of encouragement to go in the yard. She's kind of manipulative about going on those Spring day walks. Seriously, I think she deliberately holds it until I start walking her down the street

OP here. Thanks for all the feedback. To summarize ... yes, dogs go on grass, not asphalt (or sidewalks - gross). Yes, it's okay to let a dog pee in someone else's yard, but ideally try to do it in the grass strip between the sidewalk and street instead. (In my case, I don't have such an area.) Complaining about dead grass due to a neighbor's dog's urine = crazy lady move.

My dog occasionally does it by accident. She thinks she is hitting the grass but it flows onto the sidewalk. Seriously, OP, you don't want a sidewalk full of pee to step around either.

Have you ever had a dog? Dogs pee all day long. Even if they peed in their own yards first they still pee along the walk, too.

My advice is to spray the area with something that the dogs don't like. They can spray their own lawn with it and spray it on the grass which is not theirs. Done early in the morning they should have no problems with the neighbors.

Red pepper flakes. Sprinkle them around. Dogs don’t like to pee on them.

So what do you suggest in a neighborhood with no sidewalks?

Dogs don’t usually pee on asphalt, although in NYC I’ve certainly seen dogs pee on the sidewalk. My dog pees in our yard but when we walk her she will “mark” where other dogs have peed. That’s usually not enough to kill the grass though. I am not sure dogs can really be trained to not pee or mark.

If it bugs you park your car in front of the house. We usually walk in the street around parked cars. Hedges are good too although check the zoning because in some places you aren’t supposed to have shrubs in the easement.

I don't mind dogs peeing on the strip between sidewalk and street. They have to pee somewhere.

I do mind when they pee on shrubs and gardens. Then I'm that crazy lady screaming from the upstairs window.
