Normal. For some reason I am prone to getting similar infected cysts, but in my armpit. I've had to get 2 lanced and drained as an adult and it was extraordinarily painful (though the armpit is much more sensitive than the ear I think). The doctor put topical numbing spray on it but that burned quite a bit - I'm not sure it really helped.

Physical pain is a part of life. The younger your child learns this, the better.

Normal. Stop looking for reasons to be a victim.

She survived, we are all still alive. It just was going to hurt one way or another.

Oh, my DD is 6 not 5 if that matters much. I think it is a little on the young side but not that young. A lot of her class friends have their ears pierced already too . But of course my DD would be allergic to the metal and this would occur.

I agree that the needle to numb it would have hurt even more. It was going to hurt either way. Your kid will survive. My kids feel lord pain than this scraping their knees
