My Kohls is so bad. It looks more like a Big Lots than anything else. I hate it. I had a $25 gift card and finally I just gave it away. There really wasn't anything I wanted.

We were in the Target at Springfield Mall yesterday and it looked horrible. They had moved stuff around but it was really the stark white renovation they did that makes it look like K-Mart. It looked so run down and just horrible. The sign above the pharmacy added color and some of that ol' Target 'Verve' but how it looks now does not encourage one to linger and be tempted into buying more. Awful!

DP. Ugh. No. The reno has a CREEPY and DEPRESSING mood, and what's more feels completely outdated (e.g. 90s). It has the feel of Sears or KMart updates right before they closed. It's like they're trying to be Kohls. A few neighbor moms and I were talking, and we all had the same reaction. We go there only if desperate for something we need on the spot.

We need to look the part first!

It's not just in your part of the country. I've been to 4 in 3 states and the same thing. Particularly the pharmacy and clothing departments. The grocery parts are good, well stocked.

We went this weekend. Left without buying. It was a total mess. Now I'm going to say this and mean no disrespect but the young people working in our store are lazy. I see them laughing and cutting up, doing next to nothing. And I agree. It reflects on the managers.

Shoes at stores like Target are always hit or miss. They don’t stick a ton and when they run out of a size that is usually it. At least these days you can order online. Back in the day they would painfully call around to other stores to see if they had them, and if you were lucky and had time they would arrange for the other store to bring them to the store closest to you; otherwise you were stuck driving all over.

I haven't noticed a lot of the other issues on this thread (messy, etc.), but this thing with the pallets has been noticable the last few times I've gone. I've had trouble getting my cart around.

The online shoe selection is still really good, but in-store is hit or miss, and always a mess.

Yack. Yes. Totally horrible transformation over the last few years. I think they should change the purchasing or ordering standards.
It used to be possible to go to Target and find some quality, good looking, good fitting things. Things used to sell.
Now you go there and everything looks idiotic. I don't know who would wear most of those things? They are so irrelevant to the fashion, taste and looks. No wonder, you go to sales racks and they are so heavy! overloaded, and so many, more then new in things.
Clearly NOBODY or mostly no one is buying this stuff.

It is clear that whoever is making purchasing decisions is not basing them on any market research or even has a slightest amount of good taste. How difficult is it to check the places that people love to shop at like GAP, CREW, Banana Republic, etc..
and see what sells and what is in style.

Target nowadays looks more like thrift shop then a department store. The problem with those places that go down like Sears or Kmart and is that they just dump things en mass on the floor without any regards for the customers. I miss those times when you had way less things on the floor but everything made sense. Now every shirt is different, or every few shirts, and so many colors, styles, lengths and peppy, yacky patterns, colors and ugliness all over that you get your eyes pop and twist in the sockets. It makes you run for the nearest exit.

Less is more. They tied once to have more designers clothing and it worked well but now they are back to just junk and junk does not sell even if it is sold for peanuts because we all have closet full of things that look better than this.

Anonymous wrote:I was hoping it was just the Target at 7 Corners. I went there last week with 10 things on my list and they not had 5. The 5 things I can get anywhere. I came back and order the rest online from other merchandisers. It reminded me of what happened to K-Mart and I really hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.

I think it depends on the area. The one in Rockville seems fine to me. I can't see it going in the way of Kmart yet judging by the crowd size on the weekends.

Yes! My Target is obviously well-managed and is always awesome. Very different from some other Targets in my town.

Well, the Reston one is in the middle of renovation. Pretty easy to tell given the humungous cargo containers all over the parking lot and the visible changes in the store.

Which means the store is a complete nightmare. I hate this new redesign so much, and yes, I've been to Sterling and others that have finished the reno. It's nonsensical and stupid and I don't understand why they've put the shoes in the middle of exercise clothes and why Oreos and toothpaste are next to a big Chip and Joanna display at the front of the store.

What was the store managers reaction when you spoke to them about the situation?
