Most cover the traveler if he’s sick plus it covers things like strikes, acts of terrorism and such. Read what’s covered, you’ll be surprised. The policies that allow you to cancel for any reason are simply to expensive.
Go on the trip and deal with it after, your husband being there probably won’t make a difference any way. Unfortunately all of us deal with this issue at some point. Going on this vacation doesn’t make you the bad relative.
Depends, I had some for a direct relative which meant children or parents. My MIL was admitted to the hospital while on vacation with out kids while we ourselves had gone on a vacation. We had travel insurance and it covered our cancelled rental car, lost hotel deposit and any change fees for taking an earlier flight. This was with allianz. I thought OP’s relative had not passed yet but was very ill and probably will. So if you get it now and it covered direct relatives it could work. You don’t know until you ask. All these people saying no insurance do you have experience with it? I have used it twice. And claims were super easy, submitted my paperwork online and myhcresit card was reimbursed In Two days.
