So many ancient threads bumped recently.

But this one is so specific. Someone had to search on "loud breathing" or similar to even find this. Funny where our minds take us.

It becomes her business when she can hear it. Stop being a weirdo.

DP: Actually PP you are the "weirdo". These are the types of classes where focused breathing is the most important part of the class. Maybe you have misophonia?

I thought weird, specific breathing sounds were part of Pilates. I have had multiple instructors who make a range of sounds specific to certain exercises. The one that comes to mind is this rhythmic chuffing sound like a train chugging along during hundreds. I always felt self conscious in smaller classes because I don’t like to do the vocal breathing part.

So should you. Instructors are busy instructing and trying to please the clientele so they don't always key in on this kind of stuff.

Why don’t you talk directly to the person? Why go to the instructor?

She can't hear over the breathing. Send her an email.

Talk to the person?! In Every single Pilates reformer class I’ve been to the instructor is actually telling people to breathe more. She says I can’t hear you! Breathing is part of the Pilates technique.

Yes, this. All the people bothered by intensive breathing are doing it wrong.

I would agree, if it was a lot of people doing this. But if one person is doing the annoying thing, they should be the one to take a private class.
