Three, where do you get off asking to raise MY taxes? How do you know what my financial situation is. I didn't ask for my house to jump $500k in value, and I didn't budget to pay those property taxes.

I've seen this guy at his kids' rec games, though not at anything Travel. Figures. So he wants the government to take MY money that goes to pay for my kids' travel teams and my pool membership. Because government knows better how to spend my kids' money.

Draft a piece of legislation creating a carve out for this man and his expressed desire to pay more taxes. Send it to the paper and post online. It's a win-win.

OP, I must be a neighbor of yours since I know which county voted to raise property taxes last night.

I do 100% agree with you, but also realize that our county will always just raise taxes and/or assessments. One party rule is just wonderful, isn't it ?

My taxes have nearly doubled in 10 years, and just expect that every year they will go up $300 - $500 per year.

Luckily, with 4 kids in public school, I come out well ahead in the end. For the 20 years I'll likely own my house, I'll pay less than $250K in property taxes. My kids will cost the system over $1 million.

OP, if you have problems paying for raised property values and proportional property taxes, then you may no longer be able to afford to live where you live and you need to find someplace cheaper to live. In fact, once you sell your home, you'll realize all of that implicit profit as actual explicit profit and have more money to care for your child. I'm sorry that you have a special needs child who required you to give up your job and to SAH to care for them, and that you don't care for the services that your taxes provide to the community, but the other guy had just as much right to ask for higher taxes and more public services as you had to ask for lower taxes.

If you don't use the public services that your taxes are paying for, then maybe it is better for you to find someplace else where they put less emphasis on public services and taxes are lower. But it sounds like the county and community where you live values those public services more and they want more of them. It sounds like you are not aligned politically with your neighbors and should seek a place where you are more aligned.

What a silly logic. Government provides the framework that enables you to make that money to begin with and gives you protection from other "taxes" that you would pay under duress to whatever local strongman happened to be around. Look at Somalia's in Syria's of the world. Anti-taxers and anti-vaxxers, same ill-informed or should I say fox-informed crowd.
