This is privilege run amok. It's more than wanting and providing your kid with the best you can, if you think you need to sabotage other kids to do it. That and the idea that your kids deserves something or has a right to a place at a certain school is the problem with privilege. It's what makes those with it assume that anyone who isn't in their group can't possibly be worthy of the same opportunities. Hopefully, this and in light of the other scandals, things can change.

It's completely sick. The only thing I will say is that (thank God) I do not know any parents like that at our DC private. There may be some but this is NOT the norm, and the college counselors are down-to-earth and calm.

Well what did the letter say and is it true? Is the kid a known cheater? Are they buying their papers online? Are they selling drugs? Are they not doing their own assignments? I wouldn’t do it but I’d be curious to know what was in the letter and more importantly is any of it true?

Nah, not like at the private schools in DC. Why? because of the mystical “prestige” that the school sells and the inhabitants hoard. Not because it would be a superior education. It’s a soul-less race to nowhere.

I gather from the emails sent out that they don't know who did it. Thus the "we won't answer blocked numbers".

Another Sidwell graduate who will not send her kids to Sidwell. The competitive feel was unhealthy 30 years ago, and it's only gotten worse.
