Was it a teacher work day? It is three weeks before the day after Easter. Schools do have work schedules and so do teachers.

Just checked--it was a "grade preparation day." I don't think they would delay report cards for three weeks.

Easter Monday is a big holiday in DC. Fairfax usually gets it off.

My children are now in college. The only time I remember FCPS being closed on Easter Monday was when Garza had control over the schedule. It was also when we started getting two weeks for Christmas every year and not just when Christmas was on Wed/Thursday.

I still don’t know why it is always during Holy Week. I wish they would change it to the week after 3rd quarter. It really worked in those years when Easter coincided with that.

Many times the end of the quarter coincides with "Easter Monday", so it is used as a teacher work day (end of Q3 for grading/planning time). This year SB is so late, the TW falls on 4/5 (tomorrow).

Sometimes spring break is the week before Easter, sometimes the week after (and thus the kids get Monday off). I wish they would just have it towards the middle or end of the 3rd quarter of school without worrying about Easter.

My DC is a senior and will have a whopping 4 weeks of school after returning from spring break. He could have used it a few weeks ago.

FCPS was off last year. I almost booked a trip that would have gone through Easter Monday and then happened to look at the calendar. When I realized they were in school this year, I looked at the previous years and they had it off last year and the year before. They have it off next year too.

I thought it was usually off for kids but a teacher work day in FCPS.

It wasn't a holiday in the past. People took kids out to take them to Egg Roll.
