The coat rack in the bathroom is hilarious.

Also, I am your husband. I can't look at something without thinking "how can I make that?" and then trying to. I also drive my own husband crazy but with 2 kids I don't have time for any of it so my building dreams are postponed.

On the plus side are he'll probably be good at around-the-house projects which is going to save you so much money long run.

Just try to direct him to projects you have interest in having... an outdoor garden setup, kids bookshelf, a kids table/chair set, kids step stool. Or send him to Habitat for Humanity for the day!

NP. My husband got into woodworking and constructed a gigantic, seven foot tall cat tree that weighs 200 pounds. He labored and obsessed for two months while making it, and it is now in our family room (!!!). I’m waiting a tactful amount of time before suggesting it would look better someplace else, like on Freecycle. The cats love it, of course.
