How is a dance studio different or privately rented basketball court different? None of those places are public. They are within the use of those that have paid the private company to participate in the private class/game. My daughters gymnastics class is not open to the public. I need to pay to be there. The basketball game is not a random pick up game. The parents pay to be there. These events are private.
Ask the dance studio to put in blinds. It's gross that the parents thinks that they can just photograph little girls in leotards. The sports groups need to create policy. That way you can vote with your wallet no matter which side of this issue you like.
Good luck with that. And if you've ever been to a kid's basketball game, yes, all the parents are taking photos there as well. Same as the soccer field, the baseball diamond or the gymnastics gym. IF you want to talk to the dance teacher, then by all means go ahead. Dance class is part of a PERFORMANCE sport. Taking videos of kids performing is very much part and parcel of the whole thing and has been so since portable video recorders were invented. I suspect the dance studio will tell you to find another place to go.
