Replacing an existing appliance is different than changing the gas piping. Anyway, Fairfax County has a new complicated system with a "wizard" to make is less complicated?

Hello, I replaced a gas stove and bought one from Best Buy. The team that replaced it pulled the permit. However, did anyone find it odd that the inspector didn't come out, and demanded others pull the stove away from the wall and we use Face time to show non-tip brackets, while I turn it on? Is this an inspection?

You know, all these rules are so complicated and it is difficult to understand them. So, once I have bought electric tankless water heater from here without any permissions. I was quite brave and I am sure that it was the right decision for me.

Any gas work (even a replacement) requires a permit and inspection. That said, so many installers and individuals simply don't do it. There is an added cost and whoever installed it should be there when it is inspected.

I know in Fairfax County, Lowes and Home Depot will not pull permits and will not touch your gas line with a 10 foot pole.
