She breaks it, she pays to fix it or uses it broken. Or has no phone. It’s simple.

I second the recommendation for a tempered glass screen protector in addition to a good case. I've got kids and a DH with ADHD and since using the tempered glass, have only broken the screen protector, not the screen itself.

I also agree with the poster about your DD learning to repair the screen herself. I learned to do it and to change the charge port from YouTube.

Have you thought about a non-iphone for your DC when this phone finally wears out? And having your DC pay for the screen replacement at this point, or earn it with extra chores?

I am one of the klutziest people around - in fact it's a huge running joke among family and friends. I have an otter box defender (strongest one) and extra screen protector. Drop it all the time and have never broken the screen. However, I agree with the others, if she's broken it that many times, move her to a flip phone or make her pay for it. She'll be more careful.

I’m extremely clumsy. Get an Otterbox which will make the phone look like a TI product from the 1980’s but it works. It’s like 60 dollars but it’s worth it. I’ve never broken my screen.

You can buy screen replacement kits on Amazon for $20. It is a tedious fix but do-able if you have patience and steady hands.

I hope you at least have AppleCare with the cheaper screen replacements.

How badly is your kid breaking her screen? If my kids get a simple crack across their screen, then they use a phone with a cracked screen. If there are actual holes, shards of glass, broken LED so the phone is not usable, then they get a screen. I'm OK with paying for one screen replacement during a two year period.

I cracked my screen with a case and screen protector. I was juggling lots of things and it slipped from my hands on to the hard wood floor. Now I just used a cracked phone. Your daughter can too..until there is reason to upgrade or she has the funds to fix it. My son cracked his screen 2 years ago. No new phone.

Hm, I am mildly clumsy and have ADHD, so I have always protected my gear to the hilt. Waaaaaay back in the day (late HS in the 90s), I would buy the most waterproof, damage-proof Walkman and then actually buy (and get to use!) the extended warranty at Radio Shack, where they would replace your stuff for any reason. I knew I was hard on my stuff and no amount of trying to be careful would work. I'm better now, but I always buy a LifeProof case, because I just know myself too well. I don't think my screen has ever broken (maybe once, when I was about to replace the phone anyway? Before I got a LifeProof case) in 8 years of owning one iPhone or another.

Obviously there's a whole other issue here with you being willing to constantly fix/replace your kid's phone, but bottom line is, you need to get something stronger than an Otterbox, and maybe an extended warranty (they're usually scams, but not with teens like I was!) And then not replace it with your own money.
