I read the whole article and saw nothing that said performing arts. It just says arts.
Agreed besides the VAC is located at Einstein because it’s in the middle of the county. They need to take Einstein and expand the VAPA program. Einstein has the experience and the creative student body, just expand that.

Woodward is virtually next door to Einstein which already hosts an arts magnet.

The Einstein magnet is only open to students in the DCC.

Bummed at this news. DD is considering Northwood. She will likely chose Blair if a bus ride is on the table.
Hardly anyone gets assigned to Blair through the lottery unless they live within the base area.

Northwood has to go there, so your kid (and mine) will be in a severely overcrowded WJ. But, its going to happen. Blame squarely placed on Capital Planning, who delayed Tilden MS rev/ex, which delayed Woodward.
Northwood has been waiting since 2002!
They talked to the community 2 years ago and nothing since.

I'm surprised because I went to a meeting a few years ago about the reopening of Woodward and MCPS told us to expect an early 2020s opening, but nothing about another high school occupation. As the parent of a child who will go to overcrowded Walter Johnson, I'm not happy that the use of Woodward for our cluster has been pushed back without any kind of heads-up.
The decision isn't quite final yet. The BOE will vote on the resolution Monday. But yes, this idea has been talked about at several meetings over the past five months.
PP is probably referring to community input from WJ cluster. I am curious about that too.

It isn't going to be a cakewalk for Northwood which is over 30 minutes from Woodward in the usual rush hour traffic. Between loading and stops these kids will be spending 1.5 hours on a bus each day for 2 years.
