That Apartment Therapy post is amazing! Without any verticle supporting beam in the center, I'd wonder how feasible this is for a larger space?
Funny that the WaPo article about the 2 story foyer as a beast (impractical) is 15 years old. Yet, how long did the 2 story foyer continue? And why would you build one?

Believe it or not in the south they’re still putting in popcorn ceilings in new houses. No one likes popcorn ceilings!
I like popcorn. I like ceilings.
But I do NOT like them together.
