Has anyone tried riding around on the Metro? Have a friend who swears by this. Lots of time to chat, get to know each other, people watch, etc. And oh-so cheap! Thoughts?

To the person who said baseball game, that’s too long for me! And the potential for sweating is high. Lol

This exactly. So strange for a first date. Why not meet for a coffee or drink and extend to a meal if it looks promising.

Because some people know how to communicate with others, are not alcoholics, and aren't just looking for a quick hook up.

Yeah... very thoughful answer. It is clear that you communicate a lot while climbing and nothing while having a coffee in a beautifull terrace or a nice coffee shop.

.it's okay pp someone has to be boring.

I would not do A, D, E, F for a first date, too involved and potentially embarrassing, e.g. I’m afraid of height so I probably just wait while my date climb lol Anyway that leaves B and C. Right now it’s too chilly to be outside so C . Whatever you choose, have fun, OP.

Nice dinner in a cool restaurant. If it goes well, then drinks.

all of this right down to the age and gender. That’s said, know your audience. Some people would be bored, others like me would rather not do something physical like rock climbing for fear of looking foolish since I’ve never done it.

Personally, I’d prefer an escape room or baseball game as my choice f first dates.

Agree with others that unless you already know this person, a meeting from someone online or from an app should be a short drink on a weeknight. That's just the way it is and what people of both genders expect. Anything more than that is too much.

Art museum. But show your date something you care about or know about. Is there a particular exhibit you want to take them to?

If this is a first meeting from an app I prefer a quick drink. One time I went to brunch and that was ok, too.

If forced to pick from the list, only the art museum.

I prefer happy hour because all of the above require an afternoon/evening...and I'd prefer to limit the initial meeting to a shorter time period. If things go well, then on to the next activity if you both have some time. While I find coffee more like an interview or catch up time with a friend, I would prefer that to a full-blown activity. Or casual lunch or brunch, depending on work day vs. weekend.

I've done plenty of activity first dates, and it's just not my preference. 45 yr old female
