I loved Dr. Abassi at Columbia Fertility Associates. In the end I still had unexplained infertility, but she seemed to really care about understanding the whys of it all. Very different than the other RE who I saw who jumped right to possible IVF.

Reiterating what a few others have said: by and large my experience with infertility has been “diagnosis after/through treatment,” if at all, and personally it is one of the more frustrating (even dehumanizing) aspects of this process for me—especially considering the large amounts of money involved. I would expect they’d, you know, want to find out what’s wrong with me and then address it in a semi-targeted way, but... no. My body is an ongoing science experiment. Perhaps this is how much of medicine works and I am only now experiencing it since I am an otherwise healthy person. But yeah, it’s weird and it kind of sucks. I hope you connect with an RE you like.
