You should attended a few practices now to get a feel for the club, coaches, parents and players.

How would a club already be able to tell you next year's roster? The spring hasn't started for most other than pre-season tournaments and tryouts haven't been announced yet. Are you looking for a guaranteed roster spot? Please specify what you are looking for them to tell you.

They do it all the time. If you are a good player they will tell you after a few practices if they want you and what team you will be on.

Do any of you give the coach a heads up?

Or a few area clubs. I think the thread is more valuable without naming names.

No. We actually left because of a Club. The environment was awful. The parents were awful and their type-A behavior was in direct relation to the environment set by the Club. The kids were also snotty---also a direct result of the self-entitlement and their parents blowing smoke up their asses. The style of play also sucked, glorified kickball.

Is it safe to guess the club is BRYC?

No.

Sounds like McLean.

Or Arlington.

DS is on one of the lower level teams, which is totally fine with us, but many of the other kids only sporadically show up for practice, and it is a struggle to get a sufficient roster for games. We are going to try to find a club where the other players are more committed to improving, even if DS is still on a lower level team.

It’s such a pity and a waste to spend $2,000+ but don’t bother to attend practices and/or games.

I told my DD that if she wants to do travel soccer, she has to be committed and attend/participate in all practices. No complaints allowed. After the year, we can discuss about quitting before we are forced to financially commit for another year.

That is a frustration for my daughter as well. She likes the club and the teammates but doesn't like how her team is always low numbers at practices and games. Hard for the other girls to improve and create chemistry if they are not there which hurts the outcomes on the weekend.

We are leaving because the club's general coaching demeanor, from the executive director on down to the coaches, is one we don't like. Despite claims of advanced possession-based football, we find the coaching philosophy to be the same old American 'big guy, run fast' kind of mentality. The coaches encourage (or don't discourage) it, the rosters are built around this idea and the coaches, almost every one of them, share an arrogance that doesn't match their abilities.

Not to mention the club's administrative dumpster fire...
