I think what they meant was MLS teams having to play diluted Club teams was a waste of time for the MLS teams. The MLS DA players weren't getting the workout they needed vs. diluted Club DA teams.

Agreed. I've been to a few friendlies where some of the Club DA teams lost to just your average team. The 'level of play' is the biggest factor for shedding Club DA.
