OP here; thanks for sharing. My last boyfriend was 40 but we broke up bc he wanted to get married and I didn’t. Similar story with BF before that.

I’m the PP and that’s the biggest problem with the younger guys. They either want to get married or they have younger children (at 45 I have high school age teenagers). I’m looking at an empty nest in a few years and the freedom that comes along with that. I’m not interested in raising young children.

And for the guy whose 48-51 year old male friends looking for 35-40 year old women, that’s what I see as a 45 year old woman. All the guys near my agre go way younger. I understand why. But I’d still prefer someone closer to my own age due to being in similar places in life. My 47 year old ex married a 39 year old. Not a huge age difference but still shows how the men his age date.

You must be giving out some kind of signals that you are not receptive to older guys asking you out.

Try wearing more conservative clothing and makeup and see what happens.

Yes people age differently depending on many factors. I saw the news about Luke Perry, literally thought he was in his 60's.

People do not age the same. Younger guys are asking her out because she looks much younger. Fine, just target your age group. They will appreciate how you take care of yourself. I look 7-10 years younger, told all the time. Co-workers thought my husband married much younger, we are only 6 yrs. apart.

If I have to dreess grumpy and make myself look less attractive to get the older guys, maybe it’s better for me to stick with the younger ones. I don’t dress provocatively at all but I am in shape so I look good in my clothes.

If older men aren't asking you out... it could be that you don't look as young as you think you do.

Your comment makes no sense. She must be reasonably attractive or she wouldn’t be getting asked out at all, especially if she doesn’t do online dating.

She could be attractive for 48, but the fact remains, men age 45 to 55 do not want 48. They probably just divorced 48, and now they want younger.

It doesn't matter what they "want" -- the vast majority 30-something women don't want to date 45-55 yr old men. I've always been much more open-minded about age than my friends, and even I drew the line at 10 years older.

It does matter what they want, because it means they are much less likely to date the OP.

And nobody, least of all a man age 45 to 55, cares what kind of woman you think a man of that age should date.
