In most cases, if you have freshman or soph doesn't make varsity, but plays on a club team, it makes more sense to have them focus on their club practices and games.

It depends on a coach. My son, a sophomore, was a starter on his varsity team and played most games without being subbed out.

There are players on Bethesda EDP teams on Churchill varsity.
