No fair. I have 3yos and can’t leave *because* there are two of them. As soon as I take my eyes off them they start fighting, and I’m afraid someone will get really hurt in the slippery bath. Or maybe one will sit on the other.. who knows with them?

Anyhow , I can’t second this recommendation.

I don't leave my 3 year old. She'll try to get up or do something odd and slip. SHe also likes to pretend to swim underwater. For expedience we pretty much do showers most of the time anyway. I wash her face and butt and body and she brushes her teeth and we do hair every couple days. 10 min and done. Saves water and time at bedtime.

Yep. She sings abcs and I sing to her as well. Not constantly, but often.

This is all good discussion, but those of you with singletons, please do something to just ensure you dont get distracted.

For all the donations and fundraisers you see for childhood cancers which are super-rare, we kill 10 kids per DAY in this country in non-boating related drowings. Tubs pools ponds, etc. We dont need fundraisers to do research to figure out how to save these 3600 kids per year. Thirty-six HUNDRED! We just need parents to be attentive.

You can absolutely pop out of the room for a bit or two, but bad stuff happens in a second so dont go far. Its so easy to get distracted. Make sure you can hear them or have some sort of sure way to not get distracted.

And with twins, not only they look out for each other you know they're ok becasue they're fighting over the soap/ the dolls / the cups / {whatever toy there is only one of in the tub}

I am realizing I am an outlier...my son is five and I wont go more then a quick run out to get a towel. I think it's cause I know what I did when left alone in the bath and am still traumatized! I tried to stand on the soapdish to look out a tiny window. It broke off and I crashed down in to the tub banging myself up all over, and my mom came running LOL I was so scared, I lied and claimed it just "fell". My mom let me get away with it but she must have known. I think I was 6.

Yup! I do it with my 2.5yo twins. They always chat, so that helps, too.

I stay in line of sight, which includes our washer and dryer, so I tend to do laundry while he plays. But I also often play with him, and work on vocabulary or stories... it's our bonding time.

I’m not sure there is a huge risk with hitting her head hard enough to fall unconscious in our tub. It’s soft plastic. But there is a chance so I stay in my room while she plays. I make sure I can hear her talking/singing the entire time. She’s 3.5.
