The new 2020 and 2021 XC40s I just looked at my local dealer all have Y at the beginning on the VIN. That means European assembly, not China.

While Volvo is owned by the Chinese, I think all the XC40s we get are made in Belgium. The "Y" at the start of their VIN number is European.

Are all Volvos now made in China?
Volvo's owned by Geely, a Chinese car company but Volvos aren't made in China - some are assembled in the US and the rest are assembled in Europe (and parts come from all over like every other car in the world). Geely's infusing Volvo tech into their cars, especially the new Lynk, but I don't think the reverse is true until the all-electric Volvo comes out, at some point in the future.

My commuting car is a 1994 Volvo 940. Still going strong!
Volvos have as good a reputation as Subarus, if not better.
Nice!!!! I’m sort of obsessed with my 90s manual transmission Subaru. Tho, the safety features are woefully outdated.
Still, I have no issues with the car and I don’t care if my car is tapped.

My commuting car is a 1994 Volvo 940. Still going strong!
