Greatschools are not only my resource. Everything points that edison is not bright.. no bright at all..
My main concern is not really discussing this actually. I was wondering if rhis Global STEM program is worth to take risk to try while there are very good options that we can go for

I don't think Edison is the right school for you. You really ought to move elsewhere.

you do it so for yourself, I need experiences, ideas and insights. they are valuable for me. I will also go to schools and talk to educators there.. Just looking around the school myself does not really help much.

Why do people always say this? Going to a school and looking around isn't going to tell OP if the STEM program is academically challenging, has good teachers...OP is here trying to see if anyone has person experience and can give feedback.

Looks like Edison’s latest SAT scores were 20th out of 25 high/secondary schools in FCPS.

Edison has a couple of groups of top tier students: middle class kids and highly motivated first generation kids from a variety of backgrounds. That top tier is small relative to other schools, but each class has it. Then there’s a swath of good students taking a mix of IB and honors classes. It is a diverse, friendly environment from which a motivated student can go anywhere. It has enough sports and clubs that there are options for active participation and leadership. Someone who wants to learn more about the world can gain much from the diversity there and be prepared for college. Housing in the area is a relative bargain wrt square footage and convenience and price.

Why don't you go to the school and look around for yourself?

We recently moved from the Edison pyramid to Langley pyramid. We are seeing a big difference in peer group.

I’m still not sure if we made the right choice. I was always comfortable sending my kids to Edison. Thought they could graduate top of their class and go on to an excellent college. My kid is just average here in McLean AAP.

I sincerely want to thank everyone here writing, giving me insight..

Edison isn't going to "get better." Like the vast majority of schools (anywhere), they are a direct reflection of the housing that is in their zones. Apartments mean that people with less economic security live there. This correlates with lower test scores (lower SES, which in Edison's case, is connected to more recent immigrants from Latin America). And the correlation continues with smaller THs vs. larger THs and older/smaller SFHs vs. Larger (more costly) SFHs.

The housing stock is what it is. Which means, for the most part, the studentbody SES is what it is. There are variances (i.e. more or less native English speakers settle in an area, or a special program is installed in a school, or the boundaries are rezoned). But, I wouldn't hold my breath that there is going to be some significant change unless the school board makes a bold move.

Parts of Kingstowne go to Hayfield (Hayfield ES or Lane first) and parts go to Franconia/Twain/Edison.

There are parts of kingstowne that are north of Manchester Blvd (aka Franconia Springfield Parkway). And there are parts of Kingstowne EAST of Van Dorn (literally across the street from Edison -- these being on the west side of Van Dorn -- and behind the Edison football field -- these being on the East side of Van Dorn).

I thought they get Lane, Twain, and Edison. Part of Kingstowne is right across the street from Edison.

Edison is on Franconia Rd.

Kingstowne is on the Hayfield side of the Springfield Franconia Parkway, mostly between that, Manchester and telegraph.

And
Kingstowne is huge. You are both right. Part of it is by Manchester but part of it lies right by Franconia and Van Dorn and Edison.
