New EOTP Title 1:
-old laptops missing half their keys, one cart for two classes to share
-no tablets. Did Donors Choose for $50 kindle Fires
-no supply money at start of year besides WTU $200. Later $150 from budget. Restrictions on where we can buy.
-needed staff laptop, was given an old student laptop
-one paid bus trip per year (doesn't include any other costs)
-no aides above K
-no paid assemblies
-few enrichments, all teacher volunteer
-no PD budget, must pay my own way
This is wayyyy exaggerated.
Which part. Because I would love to know what part of my experience is exaggerated.

Anonymous wrote:The thing that blows my mind is there is no difference in pay scale for DCPS title I schools vs the WOTP schools (and the handful of other non-title I). We should be incentivizing teachers at the highest need schools- the job is so much harder plus they do not have PTAs which provide so much extra. It’s a real shame.

It is a PTA that raises six figures every year.
It is a high level of political influence so downtown and the mayor treats them well.
We are at an EotP ES and my dc has plenty of peers above grade level.
Yay for you. In 5th grade?
No 4th. But the 5th graders have quite a number of kids who are above grade level.

At EOTP schools they are funded for these additional supports. Aftercare can be free. Lunch can be free.
If you are at a Spanish immersion school, only Oyster is likely to have math materials in Spanish widely available. (According to teacher/tutor who comment on DC Eureka Spanish materials.

It's what the WOTP schools can pull in outside of the budget that counts, they pay for a lot of things for school, staff and students.
