Sounds like he absolutely needs a tutor and more supports. Sounds like she's choosing to ignore what he really needs.

I have a pretty similar kid--i know all kids are different, but in case the story helps a little. He has had all the evaluations (a couple of times) and his diagnoses are ADHD (combined and severe), generalized anxiety, severe Dysgraphia. Also very academically motivated. Rigidity went way down when we treated anxiety.

Biggest parts of treatment were: 1) taking him out of public school 2) therapy 3) medication for anxiety. After a couple of years we were able to discontinue medication and kid can manage. His rigidity no longer an issue at all, except in occasional moments of high anxiety. No longer any ocd tendencies whatsoever. No longer fits ASD profile (he never had that diagnosis, but had red flags.). We have never successfully medicated for ADHD as his anxiety diagnosis makes stimulants tricky and non-stimulants don't seem to have any effect but doing great oveall.

What are his accommodations? If he is spending all of his free time on homework, I think some things need to change. 100 questions for an assignment for a kid with his issues? That's torture. No wonder his anxiety is so bad. Mine would be it I felt like every day was an absolute struggle to get through homework

It is a little odd how you are explicitly comparing what you can do or know with what he can do or knows. (“I could answer the questions,” “I’ve had training in microbiology.”) Do you think he senses competition from you?
