And women crowing about their “oops” and “surprise” babies are sometimes really just either bragging about getting knocked up and/or they are trying to pull one over on their husbands who didn’t want more children.

My youngest is a surprise, especially as he was conceived with condom useage, me on birth control pills and in perimenopause (I hadn’t had my cycle in almost 2 years at the time). He is amazing but was quite the shock! So needless to say, it happens, and not because people are dumb.

Sorry but i don’t believe you hadn’t had a period in 2 years, were on the pill AND used a condom every time and got pregnant. I just don’t.

My mom had my sister at 42, dad was 51, my brothers and I were 5, 6 & 7 at the time, she was definitely a surprise. Now I am in my 60s and I am supremely thankful for her, we've been very close always. Can't imagine life without her.

Condom broke (non-latex have higher rates of tears) and took the morning after pill within 24 hours. Still got pregnant. Hadn't had sex prior to that so it wasn't another time.

- using only contraceptive film which is like 65% effective
