Goalkeeper is a prestigious position on any team!
- 50% of the team in one position.
Not ours! Everyone is basically saying "not it" when asked who wants to play goalkeeper.

DS is starting goalkeeper for a travel team.
For an important tournament, he is to be replaced as starting goalkeeper by a visiting player from Europe.
Personally, I accept Club's decision up to a point but I prefer not to attend this tournament since Club has different player.
Is consensus opinion this is OK? I just feel a three day tournament is a lot simply to watch.
OP, I should say it is U11 age group. Goalkeeper is part of three guest players from Europe intended to boost status of club.

This is ridiculous OP.
The club has ZERO interest in developing your child vs. "the prestige of the club" or whatever excuse they are using. I'd be shocked and would consider leaving immediately telling the team to get another GK.
I understand the value of being a team player and all that, and if this was a case of another kid from your team moving up to the GK and knocking you down a peg well that's life. But to bring in a ringer from outside just so the club can be better is insulting at best.
Given the demand for GK in so many teams around the area you should be able to find another option from a team that cares about your kid's progress (though I do second the comment a U11 should not be fixed at one position just yet).

Do you prefer not to attend or does he prefer not to attend?
I would leave it up to him. I understand the slight as an adult but he is a kid. If he wants to play the tournament in other positions, let him.
It's his only position; he doesn't want to go; I don't want to go. I don't mean to create rancor. I just wondered if I was being selfish by refusing the offer that he "warm up" the guest keeper.

Op. I don’t want to put the club, but it’s a big tournament that includes international teams from Latam/ Caribbean z
I don’t understand the cards well enough to have any theories. I don’t want to be mysterious but I don’t want to put the club, either.
Dallas Cup? Or something at ESPN in Florida? I wouldn't send my U11 player to an event like that without some understanding about playing time. And I would also question why a U11 team needs to invest that kind of travel at that age. Your overzealous club and parents will price a lot of players out if they start this just to raise their reputation.
