So how did you two not communicate about dinner before it was cooked? How didn't she know that the evening was avialble for her to spend with her friends?

You two need to communicate better.

Your wife is crazy. I think you communicated just well.

She is upset because you left her alone on a Saturday night without communicating your plans. Why did it take you an hour to respond? She was clearly expecting you home for dinner and was waiting for you to eat. You should have been clear from the start that it would be a late night. Do not do this when the baby gets here. Also, make a habit of checking your phone more often when she’s waiting for you at home, maybe turn your ringer volume up.

You didn’t communicate, you left her hanging, you see no problem with that, and now she’s stuck wondering if you’re going to continue behaving like this once the baby comes and basically be an absentee dad.

You need to learn to communicate but she’s being a huge baby. You’re allowed to go out, just like she is. You’ll be allowed to go out eventually after the baby is born too, just like she will be, but you’ll both be too tired for a while. When the baby comes, be clear about your schedule and let her know of any changes. Her nonsense probably will get worse when she’s sleep deprived and dealing with a baby.

She's angry because you told her you were going to a bonfire but you actually went to a hootenanny.

You need to grow up. Making, communicating, and sticking to a schedule are going to be EXTREMELY important when the baby arrives. You can't just go MIA at Billy Bob's Bonfire whenever you feel like it, and leave your wife at home to deal with everything. (Because yes, at 30 weeks pregnant, she's dealing with everything for the both of you.)
