What about people who have first and last names that are not so common here in the USA?
Applies to me and my info is 100% accurate. Scarily accurate.
Why is it so accurate for some and inaccurate for others?

One of the sites I came across already knows about my sister's recent divorce. Recent as in late last year. Is there anything that can be done to prevent these types of scam websites from obtaining personal information?

These sites should be penalized for ripping people off.

Not impossible. My husband had both of our identities removed pretty easily. He sent a strongly worded email. He is an attorney, and he wrote it "as my attorney" He did it for himself too and I'm not sure how he phrased that one. I just pulled up the email he wrote and his letter was about how it said I had court/criminal records, which is untrue and misleading. Almost everyone is flagged with that and it's likely about a speeding ticket somewhere.
It was removed within a few days and has not resurfaced.

You can always check marriage records online from whatever city or county they are currently living in.

Most of the info on My Life is totally inaccurate. I just Googled people I know well and My Life confused lots of their information with other people. Even the birthdates were wrong! I was wary of OP's choice of words, but when I looked people up, it definitely looked like a scam.
