Not if she's in the habit of sending cards for all occasions. It would make sense, actually. In Asia, people give New Year's cards or the little red enveloped with a crisp new bill. In Japan, there's no money, but you have the social obligation to send a card to literally all your private and professional acquaintance.

So what you do is that you open it because you "thought it was a Lunar New Year's card". And who knows, maybe there's money in it



Married people do not receive red pocket money, only single people.

Honestly I feel like the fact that she normally sends postcards and notes means there is nothing secretive going on. The only reason this time it's sealed is because Valentine's cards come in card form.

She seems clueless but harmless. If there were something nefarious going on your DH would have told her to quit with those postcards a long time ago or never even let you see them since you said you're not the one who gets the mail usually. He would have been throwing those out.


NP. I’m sorry, but PLENTY of men hide inappropriate relationships in plain sight.

OP, this looks like some sort of a power-play on the part of his weird friend. Is she married? I’ve found that unmarried women can take these kinds of boundaries less seriously, even if they don’t have poor intentions.

Open it, OP. What are you waiting for? If it turns out to be something innocent, then you can claim that you accidentally opened it along with the rest of the mail.
