Are you a single parent by choice? I am. I know what that line means!

I’m a single mom by choice and don’t know what that line means either. No one parents my kids but me.

She has not been kept the dark. She is in touch with the surrogate mother and has spent time with her since she learned the news.

Huge community of gay and lesbian parents in SF who help each other out. They always have a million solid emergency contacts for their kids.

op here, bad choice of words as it was late at night. what i meant was, i see a lot of people really wedded to having their genes passed down and it prevents them from going the donor route.

in contrast, just thought this was neat story of a kid who knows shes from donor egg and surrogate.

that background is spelled out more here:

Thank you for coming back to say this. Your original post was very condescending.

More likely that they implanted two, expecting one... and then one of them divided. I know someone who ended up with triplets this way.

I am more intrigued about the last birth of triplet. My guess is the dad had three embryos left over after had two older kids and he just jammed the three into a surrogate? Is the even ethical for doctor to perform?

The dad has a partner. The partner is not legally the kids’ father, but he’s not really a single dad.

Frankly anyone who has five kids could use help from friends and family! This guy sure sounds committed to his kids.

It helps that her Dad is a lawyer that can clearly afford expensive private lessons. That she skates 5 hours per day. No doubt she is talented, but she is also hard working and her family has the means to help her. What's with the tearing apart friends help with parenting? You people don't have friends, lovers, SOs?

+1. The man is a lawyer, and gets up at 4:30 am every morning to keep his house running. I'm not sure I know exhaustion like he does!

He also probably has help.

Do you know this family personally to make such a statement?
