I enjoy books by M.C. Beaton and Fannie Flagg or short stories by James Herriot when I want light, uplifting reading.

I think J. Courtney Sullivan is a great writer. Any of hers would draw you in.

Did you check the library’s online ebooks? I check out hundreds of books and read them on the kindle that way.

If you like fantasy, I really enjoy Naomi Novik- Uprooted, Spinning Silver, Temaire series.

All books by Elin Hilderbrand, The Blue Bistro is my favorite but they are all good. Light and entertaining but she is a great writer.

Also, try books by Catherine Ryan Hyde, I loved Take Me With You.

Both authors have lots of books so if you like them you are set for quite awhile with reading material.

Oldies but goodies - anything by Laurie Colwin

I think the Curtis Sittenfeld books are a good suggestion as well.

Ruth Reichl’s memoirs particularly if you are into food at all, but they are good regardless, as well as Born Round, Frank Bruni’s Memoir

The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank. Each chapter is a short story that ties in to the other. You’ll laugh, you’ll tear up. It’s just well-written women’s lit.
