My kid doesn't start school until 11:15am tomorrow. Whats the point of a delayed opening if school already starts after 9am? Lack of buses?

Exactly, the busses all have multiple routes. They will be driving the middle schoolers/high schoolers/early start elementary schoolers on their delayed scheduled during your kids' normal start time. They can;t just say, okay, two hour delay for everyone who starts before 9 am.

I'd just cancel bus service for those schools then. Parents have to stick around anyways so watch their kids, might as well have them drive in instead of take time off work.

Believe it or not, but some families do not have automobiles and can't transport their children to school. I live in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County (Rt 1 corridor) with the largest collection of Title 1 schools and many of those low income families don't have cars.

Find a friend with a car, or take public transit as close to school as possible.

That it does. Half the workday is basically gone.

I have a middle schooler and a an ES.. I think the reason the delay for MS parents is a relief is MS starts so darn early! But now it;s so late for my ES.. can't win..

Of course the roads are clear right now. Much of the snow melted today - and will refreeze overnight. Good luck sliding around in the morning.

The main roads are fine 8ne, but some neighborhood streets still have large patches of ice. Additionally, sidewalks are still a mess.
