I was apart of a Christian group on campus when I had gotten pregnant.

I didn’t hear from any of the members after or during my pregnancy..

I am a single mom, it was the time I needed the support the most

It’s a coincidence that people are religious and pro life then judge and exile you while you’re pregnant and afterward

Fellow single parent here- we've felt most welcome and integrated at the Community United Church of Christ ( multiple congregation s in DC, MD and DC) and All Souls Unitarian.

Last fall, I sat next to a woman on a plane who attends First Presbyterian, and she strongly recommended it. She didn’t have any kids, but said the church is very welcoming, inclusive, kid-friendly, and had an great music program.

Based on our two-hour flight, she seemed like a very kind, open-minded, reasonable person, so it’s probably worth checking out.

14:05- you are right! I have been to both and blanked.

I would look for a non-demoninational church, maybe one that meets in a non-traditional setting.

I found my church by googling "open and affirming." Churches that are welcoming to LGBTQ people also tend to be more comfortable places for single people and "nontraditional" families since everyone does not fit the same mold, in my experience. (I am a straight person married to a non-Christian, more conservative churches have issues with that too.)

Where do you people get your negative opinion of church? Check out Floris or any of their sister churches. The focus is building community.

Maybe your church doesn’t, but not alll churches. I am a single mother by choice, and I first went to my church of birth (Catholic). It was clear that I would be tolerated and pitied, so I left. When I went to an Episcopal church, I had a conversation with the rector, and she looked at me like I had two heads when I explained my concerns and said “all families are a blessing”. I have never once in word or action felt any “less than” and more importantly, neither does my child.
