Obviously there needs to be a multi-faceted approach. The status quo is very clearly not working. Just worth considering that there may be some merit to an expanded barrier.
You know illegal immigration is down over the past decade. Why is that?
so what if it is down, they are still trying to come in.
Agree.
Whether illegal immigration is up or down, really doesn’t matter. There should be zero illegal immigration. I am happy to advocate for better legal immigration policies. But I can muster zero support for encouraging illegal immigration.
People who are coming in are using A LEGAL FORM of immigration (check USA government site for asylum). So, no matter how many times your Fox GOD say, this is not illegal immigration.

Hell, I am old and I could even climb that wall. That is why we need additional funding. To replace and extend current barriers.
Now, the wall that Jim Acosta featured yesterday - no way could I climb that.
That is the type of barrier that is needed and for which funding is being sought.
There's this new fangled thing called a "ladder". It's amazing.

What? These people are using a legal form of immigration?
So, walls cannot stop anyone to enter to US, is that what you are showing?

The republican dog whistle has always been to secure the border before changing the immigration system. I listened to the NPR radio show. It did seem like an honest, compassionate plea for help to discourage families from making the trek to the border. I think the problem with Trump is that he has politicized this issue to the extant that Democrats have to resist him. Trump is also locking down every legal way to come here as well. If wasn't doing that he might have a lot more support from independents for the wall.

No. There are legal ways to apply for asylum. Walking over the border and living in a country undocumented is NOT the way to do it.
Show me your official government reference that it is illegal to apply for asylum once you have crossed the border. You cannot, because it is not.

The men and women who are working the borders are the experts here. They know what is needed to slow down and stop illegal immigration across the border.
Congress should listen to them. #BuildTheDamnWall
