It took me 7.5 years, and many fits and starts, but today I weighed in at 145. I have been maintaining for 4 months and it is definitely harder to maintain than we think it will be.
Hang in there, OP. If you find the will, you can make it happen.
Congrats!
What part of maintaining has been challengingly?
Not PP, but I lost 50 lbs about 5 years ago (220 to 170, I’m 5’ 9”) and losing was easy compared to maintaining. I am actually 15 lbs up right now and have to whack it back. It’s hard because your body desperately wants to regain the weight and you have to continuously find ways to get around it. I do a new kind of diet every year or so - it seems to startle my body into letting go of the weight it wants to regain. But honestly, if you are losing a significant amount of weight realize you will never be the same as someone who was never obese. You will have to have food rules and restrictions forever. That said, I feel so, so much better than I did! My heath issues disappeared and I have sports I love to participate in. When I gain weight back, as I have, I start to feel it in my body and that motivates me to find a way to get back to baseline.
