OP be glad she is your stepmom and not your mom doing this—mine found a key chain on the floor, gave it to my son and told him that since I don’t be able to afford the luxury car itself I could look at the keychain and dream ... and she is loaded.

You dad can send you gifts. My mom is like that to me but generous with boyfriends family. I pulled back and gave up.

She probably does all of this so you will walk away from your dad and he will change his will to cut you out completely.

That’s one way to do it but only if you think she would care about the faux pas. Then toss it.

You can walk away but by losing her you lose him.

My dad is a big tough strong guy and I never knew how weak he was until he remarried after my mum passed away. She runs the show; we never get to see him alone/any issues he brings up come from her financial interests and not the grandkids, etc.

If you want to keep knowing her, you will need to put up with her a little. I'd just address it as needed "love the scarf- I saw it in your facebook photos and had no idea one day it will be mine- thanks!"

If you care about your dad's well-being while he undergoes cancer treatment, why would share gift exchange drama with him? Do you really think ScarfGate is something he cares about at this point in his life?
