I’m a woman and have met guys who look nothing like their photos (older, fatter, balder) before but I didn’t just leave them hanging because I’m not a terrible person. The only excuse for this behavior is if you felt physically unsafe.

Anyone's date is a human being and deserves a certain amount of respect, even if it is the worst match of all times. Second, I can accept that a woman going on a date puts a certain amount of effort into her hair, makeup, and clothes to look nice. Plus, and I know it is often a remote possibility, a woman on a date puts herself in a situation where there is potential for physical abuse from a man.

Translation: give her some freaking common courtesy at the least.

He likely had another date lined up afterwards and your date was taking too long.

This one sounds more like he read her as whoa crazy crazy. If that's the case, you almost have to sneak away to avoid a scene. No one likes getting a drink thrown on them or being stabbed.

I have ended dates quickly when it was clear things were not right, but I can not imagine just leaving someone there. I respect other peoples time too much. That is 45 min of op's life she would never get back.
