This. Everything about a car dealership and car salesmen is geared towards you f’ing you as much as possible.

Sounds like a fine idea, OP. Make up a story about how you’re in the process of moving and looking to buy after the New Year, but browsing now because the family has your kids. Sounds plausible, and not a total lie.
