I have an iPad and computer. My phone stays in my purse. My text do go to my computer and iPad but we have a home phone. I don't see the need to carry my phone 24/7. I hate it in my bedroom as people are rude and text all day and night when they know I'm sleeping.

Sounds like he’s setting boundaries. If you’re seeing his spouse, why the need to text him? I feel like with married couples, they are one person. Example of someone texts DH and I (on separate texts) and DH responds... I don’t.

Maybe he feels uncomfortable texting too much with another women on a casual/conversational basis

Sounds like the friendship is at risk in your side. I'd call that urgent and important enough for a phone call, wouldn't you?

I'm so bad about texts sometimes and then I feel so bad. Often at work, I'll see a text on my watch and then I think about how I would respond. Usually I never actually actually respond though, I wish my thought out responses would send themselves!

These texts are very vague, it's probably the case like PPs describe where they saw it but then forgot to write back, or something like that.

Something doesn't have to urgent or important to make a phone call. Sometimes I'll call a friend if they haven't texted back, or they'll call me because I didn't text back, and sometimes i just like talking to my friend on the phone instead of texting.

Some people hate this back/forth texting. It's annoying. Three text back and forth is all that is doable for many.

Maybe there texts froze? for instance that recently happened with my iPhone. I lost two days of texts until I updated my phone via the Apple geeks online. Don't always presume the negative I never got some texts or lost others.

Yup. And there's nothing to remind me to answer. It's this teeny little message, and it gets pushed to the bottom of the list by all the other incoming crap, including automated messages, and then it's just functionally gone.

If you enjoy spending time with these people and they are otherwise good friends, I'd let it go.
