I’ve known people like this. When people do this, it’s because other people don’t like you in the larger group, and the other people talk about you behind your back.

It could be many things. Just ask.

These are NOT your friends, OP. These are stunted teens trapped in a 40 year old body. Time to move on and find real people. Let me guess, they call other people "fake" to save face, and tell stories about other people - how the nicest person you know supposedly "doesn't like anyone"? Right? Wrong. We all know that group, and trust me when I tell you no one likes them, because they are not nice or kind or good people. Heck, they are not even fun!

Huh?

Did you seriously just resurrect a thread from a year ago to...give this update?

You know a woman who is not consistently nice or a true friend. Call Perez Hilton? Email the Washington Post? Call Scoltland Yard? OK...and/so? What?

You say she's a former friend atthis point. What were you expecting? You sound so dramatic

OK, well drop the rope. No need to go back to a well with no water.

Are you needy in groups? Do you expect to be hand-held through social settings?

If she was a real friend you would be able to talk to her about this.

She wants to take the high road and make you make the decision. You left the group the friendship etc because you wanted to (not because she was a bizarre b***ch). In the meantime in a group you can talk with the boring/ old B group freeing her to talk with her friends.

I had a friend who kept inviting her sister along. I realized she had decided that her sister and I should be the friendship-pair.

Yup

OP here I find her signals confusing. This year we have not seen each other much. I did ask her about not talking to me — she was dismissive. So many people to talk to at once! There were 4 not including us and we were there for 3.5 hours. In a way I feel I’m being to nice.

When I host, I try to be available to people but if they're talking to others, I try not to butt in because I don't want to be considered intrusive. Could she be doing this? Or is she actually not talking to you when you talk to her?

Honestly, I can be "this friend" often. But its because you're a sure thing? Like I have to make an effort in a group setting for business or networking purposes, but I know (or at least thought) you'd always be my friend?
