It would be pretty funny to be approached by a kid in a grocery store. It would probably take me a while just to figure out that he was trying to pick me up. And that's coming from someone who used to get a fair bit of attention back before I had kids!

I'm 36 and when I was 32 a 26 year old asked me out and I said no, I thought he was too young. More than I think something is "wrong" with you, I'd find it suspect that a woman who's 40 would be interested in and attracted to an 18 year old. But that's just me.

it depends on how attractive you are. I'm probably not going to waste my time with a younger guy for many reasons, unless he offers something men my own age don't, like a 6 pack or a perky butt or thick, luscious hair.

A young man your age once came onto me in the grocery store parking lot. I was in my mid 40's with tween/teenage kids at home and at first I was genuinely confused as to what the guy was doing. When I realized that he was coming onto me I got into my car and got out of there in a hurry! I was shocked that a kid would approach me like that. Baffled really.

Honestly, Op, you are so young. Stick to young women who are closer to your age. There are young women who have their acts together better than a lot of older women do. And they almost always have a ton less baggage than older women do. Don't sell yourself short.

Good idea - hang out in the produce aisle and comment on the size of the cucumbers they pick out.

Melons... comment on the melons... ask how to choose one... that you aren't looking for one that too young, or over ripe!
