Does your dh control all the money in your relationship? I’m a SAH, but I have equal access to our money with dh. Your setup sounds problematic. In your shoes I would seriously consider going back to work. Some relationships aren’t cut out to have a SAH spouse. If your dh thinks he’s the final word on how money gets spent, then I’d suggest yours may not be well-suited to it.

Is your DH also paying for him to go to college? I am on his side, assuming there isn’t more to the story. If you want me to send him, you should figure out a way to earn it. A student in a dorm with a meal plan doesn’t need much spending money.

Where is your son’s father in all this? Are there any arrangements from your divorce about college?

Yeah your DH is sacrificing your sons academic chances by being petty. Part of college is building relationships, and generally that involves spendng money. Most kids won’t squander hours to scrape money together for buying pizza or dates, so that will be less time for him to study.

Tell DH he can tie the money to specific performance at school, like a 3.5 GPA or something but yeah he is being petty

Do you have any discretionary money built into your budget?

If you want this and DH does not, cut back on your incidentals and send your son some money. Do your nails at home, wait longer to get haircuts, skip starbucks and you're set.

Your “child” is in college. Get a job and send him your own money.
