Family of 6 here too. We split shopping between Costco and Asian supermarkets.

From Costco we get mostly:

- Steaks (prime grade ribeye primal)
- Pork ribs and loins
- Chicken wings, whole chickens
- Bread (bagels, whole wheat bread)
- Fuits (Oranges, bananas, grapes)
- Veggies (Cucumbers, onions)
- Milk
- Eggs
- Wine
- Coffee
- Flour, sugar, oil

From asian super markets:
- Seafood: fish, shrimp, crabs, lobster, etc.
- Ground pork
- Parts of livestock not normally found elsewhere
- Tofu
- Fresh veggies
- Asian fruits
- Rice
- Noodles
- Asian condiments

Family of 3, we spend about $1000 per month on groceries. I buy mainly organic for dairy, meat, fruits and veggies. Also organic frozen foods mainly (organic frozen pizza, organic frozen veggies, etc). That adds up quickly. We eat out once a week and I cook the rest of the time.

The produce quality is much higher but otherwise it’s just convenient to buy most things at one store.


This is us but we are just 2 adults. We buy all fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, milk, etc. at Whole Foods. We buy paper products, cleaning products, shampoo, deodorant, etc. at Costco or Giant or Wegman's. We eat out about 1-2 times a week and have an occasional lunch out at work. We might be close to 1K per month for all of these items. We are fortunate that we don't have to watch this spending closely as we still save a good amount each month. We have been married over 35 years and when we first started out it was all Shoppers Food Warehouse and $50 a week budget! Life changes.

Family of four, kids are young. We spend way more than 1000 a month on groceries. We’ve thought about cutting back but decided not having to think about grocery costs (or eating out) was a luxury we wanted to prioritize.

I shop at Costco once a week, but otherwise it’s Whole Foods or Instacart. We are gluten free. I buy organic everything whenever it’s availabile. We don’t buy a ton of gluten free breads or anything but we do go through a considerable amount of gluten free desserts (like simple mills) which can get pricey. We drink nespresso multiple times a day, and eat expensive chocolate. But no wine or alcohol.

$1400 a month. 2 adults 2 teen children, 3 dogs and a cat

A lot of organic vegi's- mixed greens, mini bell peppers, tomatoes, etc... I eat a huge salad everyday for lunch
A lot of organic chicken, organic chicken wings, organic eggs-we don't really eat red meat or pork.
Deli lunch meat and cheese for hubs
Milk-I really need to buy a cow with how much my son and husband drink. Seriously, like a gallon a day
Green juice, creamer,
bread, english muffins, pasta, mac-n-cheese,
coffee- K-cups, tea, cocoa, monsters
frozen stuff from Costco and Trader Joe's
TP, paper towel
Dogs are about $200 a month with food, treats, and glucosamine, cat is about $50 for food, treats, and litter
This also includes ordering pizza or eating out, but that is minimal. We eat at home mostly

I'd say this is about right for us, too. Family of 6. Dinner comes in between $25-$50 pretty much whatever I cook. We also eat a lot of berries.

However, we also eat out probably once a week, and even at a cheap place, that runs $60-$80/meal.

I don’t track what I spend per month. I usually end up spending $60-80/week at the grocery store because I buy the rest at Costco. Family of four (two daughters.)

This is more or less what we do too, except we are a family of four and don't spend $1000/month (or really anywhere close so clearly buy a lot less of this!)
