Is your internet a teaser rate? We have Verizon for $39.99 for a year but I think it goes close to $100 after that.
PP here - I signed a new 2 year agreement, but the rate shouldn't increase. we have 50/50 mbs which works fine. They tried to upsell me to 100/100, but it is unusual that we have more than 2-3 devices (PS4, streaming tv, youtube on a phone) going simultaneously. We bought a Orbi for our house a few months ago (before the cable cutting) due to dead space in our house, and it really boosted our Wifi.

This. It is cheaper for us to have all 3 services than internet alone. I'm not sure there's anywhere in the DMV that has affordable, reliable internet-only providers.
We have Verizon Fios and went from close to $300/month to $75/month for internet alone. I have no idea what the speed is, but we have no issues streaming shows while the PS4 is streaming downstairs and other devices are going.
We got a digital antenna (which only works so-so) for the local stuff.
I don't miss much on cable except being able to switch on some of the news channels to catch up.
We did this with Cox and went from over $300/month for all 3 bundled, to $130/month phone and internet.
We have amazon prime, plus PSVue for the network, news and HGTV type channels, and the PBS app for me.
Even with paying for Vue, we are saving over $100/month.
We have 4 TVs, one that usually has kids gaming online, another teen online computer gaming plus smart phones/tablets, and rarely do we have even a lag. At any given time there are 3 to 4 different devices online.
My husband is able to get tons of live sporting events through Vue: NFL, a bunch of MLB including the playoffs/world series, some Olympics, NHL playoffs, etc.
The only 3 channels we want but cannot get live are the Weather channel (have to use website), CMT (DCC Making the Team) and ABC live (don't really miss it).

Antenna TV is surprisingly good in the DC area. Spring for a good outdoor antenna and you won't need cable.

I watch ABC live using my Mohu HD indoor antenna with the regular TV remote (i.e., no scrolling). Hulu Live should also give ABC live.
I'm tbe PP. You can't get ABC live in the DC metro area. There are only a few metro areas where it is available. I did buy an antenna first....the reception is very broken and pretty difficult to watch even a weathercast. No way to watch a show with that much audio interference.
I live in the DC Metro area and have an antenna and have zero problems.

It is an app - like Netflix. It defaults to the last channel you were watching when you open it. It takes one extra set - but it opens pretty quickly.

This might be a dumb question, but is the DirecTV interface like netflix; you have to open the app and then choose a program to watch. Or is it more like I'm already used to with cable, open the app and then just scroll through channels that automatically play.

Forgot, I think my DirecTV Now is $22/mth. I didn't have to do anything different with my ISP to have/use it and can watch on my phone, ipad, laptop and using a firestick on TV

I have DirecTV Now streaming service and I get some deal because I also have ATT mobile. It works for me, I get local stations and it travels so wherever I am I can pull it up and watch.

You'd get the local abc channel over the air for free, like all of us used to do in the old days. It still works.
