I am at CCRM and just applied for the Gold PPO. There are a number of fees that are not covered by insurance, i.e. surgical suite stay. I wonder if other practices have everything covered? I am looking at about 10k OOP. Which of course is better than 25-27k+ but still sucks. Those who have done this before, is literally everything covered? That seems amazing.

OP here. I'm thinking Carefirst is what I'll be doing as well. It looks like Shady Grove and my OBGYN are both in network so I'll save myself the $200 bucks and just go the HMO route. I'm pleased to see that it looks like there should be excellent IVF coverage, but I'm still afraid it's too good to be true. I'm going to try to see if I can get the official plan documents from BCBS and call Shady Grove today to confirm they do indeed take Carefirst before I have my husband get rid of my insurance with his employer.

I cycled locally and then in NYC with Sher. All covered. 3 attempts per live birth . The define attempt as an actual transfer so either a fresh cycle with transfer or a FET all count the same. A retrieval then freeze all does not count as an attempt so it's great if you want to bank embryos. We did. Meds are covered with small copays. A cycle of meds was under $300 or so total I believe but very cheap.

Columbia Fertility told me they didn't cover freezing or thawing or Biopsy for PGS so I paid out of pocket for that. When Sher billed it , they paid so make sure everything is run through no matter what. I'm pissed about that still. But it's totally worth it if you can do it ( MD resident)

Thank you so much, PP. I just signed up for Carefirst PPO Gold. I’m going to try one more time with my local clinic, banking embryos if I can. If no success I will consider SIRM or CHR in New York.

Were you able to do two retrieval’s back to back with all covered? I’m hoping I can do that Before a FET.
