My parents # came up in the green card lottery and we ere asked to provide th full application. Been a citizen for 10 years now.

Was sitting in the nosebleed section an hour before a Springsteen concert, and a roadie moved my friends and I to the front row. It was amazing!

That’s insane. Similarly, I know someone who happened not go to class (and this person always went to class) the day of a major college campus shooting. Most people in that particular class were injured or killed. You can probably guess which ahooting. I can’t imagine living with that for the rest of my life.

I had the same experience except we adopted twins and they were the most beautiful babies. They are now 16 years old. I don't think anything will ever top that for me.

Being born into a UMC family in the US in the modern age. Good health care and many opportunities.

Probably two things--

1) Winning an all expenses paid scholarship to study in France for a year. It changed the course of my life. I was from podunkville and my parents only had high school diplomas and had not traveled outside of the East Coast. TO say it was a dream come true is no exaggeration.

2) We had to use donor eggs to get pregnant with no 2 and only one blast made it to transfer. This was our last chance to give our kid a sibling and I had had a previous uterine surgery and an abnormal uterine shape (discovered only when I had no 2 by C-section) that reduced my odds even further. He is truly miraculous.

My SIL and I both have some mineral rights in oil-producing areas, not large but a few small extra checks a month. We both got letters from an operator about mineral royalties that were in suspension while researching title. (Mystery why it took so long, we were getting royalties from another operator on the same parcel all along). Once the paperwork was done we expected to get a few hundred bucks each. Check came and it was just under $11K--it had been operating for 3 years, and first couple of years production is highest and it was before prices started dropping a few years ago.

I sorely needed my house re-roofed and that almost paid all of it.

I'm impressed that even though you were in foster care you were able to see it as positive, because for so many it is not.

Earlier this year I was in the airport in Santiago Chile, waiting for a connection. I was exhausted from my previous travel and accidentally left my ATM card in the ATM--still signed in! I was sitting down about 50 feet away from the ATM and a man approached me, asking if it was mine. I was so lucky he was honest!

2 years ago we walked out of our house and found an envelope full of cash. And another. And another. It was over $3000. We called the police and reported it and turned it in. They held it for 90 days and then called us when nobody claimed it after that and said it was legally ours.

Adopting my child after many years of trying and not being successful.
