Usually this happens at work or at a doctors appointment etc. I actually avoid talking about my child if I am not with him because it's kind of annoying when people make a big deal about things. I have been volunteering in my son's Sunday school class for over a year now and one of the moms asked me if I go to high school. She was looking for a babysitter and she's my age!! She didn't realize that I am older and that I have a child in the classroom. I live in a warm climate so wearing suites and blazers is really not possible. I kinda of at the point where I don't care anymore but it does suck when people your own age think you're 10 year's younger. I think they write me off.
Believe me you will be thanking your lucky stars in a decade or two!
Not true. I heard this for years from people who had no idea. I’m in my mid-50s and I’d rather be taken seriously as a grown person, than told I look so young and being dismissed. It’s done demeaning.

Op here. Yes that's very true. I got the young adult membership without even asking recently at the YMCA. Later on I went to add my child and childcare. I was shocked to find out that there was not an extra charge for childcare. My YMCA membership with childcare is $29. The person who signed me up was definitely in highschool.
Anonymous wrote:Maybe just another humble brag but my wife has always had the same issue and is also petite. When we got married at 25 she easily could pass for 17 or 18. She was legitimately asked for ID until she was well into her late thirties. Still looking 40ish at 55 along with her original weight, she still turns heads. Standing alongside my two adult daughters and most people assume their sister’s.
My wife also had the same issues with people not thinking of her as the older adult that she was. Luckily you’ll get the last laugh when your my wife’s age and still looking young.
