I have high school students who wear flannel pj bottoms to school frequently all year. They have it school wide during spirit week and sports teams do it for spirit days as well. So no, your 6th grader is not too old.

Clearly none of you have kids in college. What you all are describing as pajamas is pretty much what most college students are wearing everyday.

I'm a teacher and we have PJ day at school the day before winter break. It's the second best day of the year (after the last day of school). They can just wear comfy sweats.

If the Principal had experience knowing this was a good idea then I'd be fine with it, not thrilled but fine. If this is a PTA idea, no.

The PTA, which should include equal input from teachers and Principal (administration), rarely does.

kids don’t have to participate. Half the kids in our ES wearctheir normal clothes - because they forgot, don’t want to, don’t have any, parents object, etc.

My kid went thru a few years where she wore her cordinated Gymboree gymmies, slippers, and stuffed animsl, to regular clothes, and back to pj bottoms and regular tshirt. Just depends on how much she and her group of friends were into it each year.

God yes. Especially in the winter.

My oldest is in HS, and they still have pajama day during spirit week (before homecoming game). He says it's not much different than other days as far as students (I guess a lot of them wear their PJs every day).

My daughter goes to Holton (with uniforms) and upper school has free dress day on Fridays. It literally looks like pajama day every darn Friday. I thought it was going to be a who can dress the trendiest day and it is literally who can roll out of bed the ugliest day.

No one is too old for comfort.

T-shirt and flannel pj bottoms. This is what almost all of the older kids wear.

They are in their last year at elementary....I realize they are still kids but shouldn't it be time to start making the transition to middle school and get dressed like big kids for school?

That's why it's a prize. They are getting dressed like big kids for school the other 189 days.

My kids have pj day in middle and high school too. I know it’s been a while, but if my 8:00am freshman calculus class is an indicator, it’ll continue into college.

I imagine if they won it as a prize, that's because it's something that most of the kids want to do. If your child doesn't, then lounge pants and a t-shirt seems like a perfectly fine solution. But I think it's pretty common through at least middle school. (Our school does it as part of "spirit week," and the middle schoolers seem to love it, or at least all participate with enthusiasm.)

DCs high school had this too. Boys wore lounge pants or sweatpants and T-shirt’s. A few would do it up but not required.

Not too old. But I echo those that don't like it. It's just kind of weird to me, and I don't like trying to figure out which pajamas are best for all day wear!
